Murder enquiry is launched as suspect is arrested after death of man at house in Measham

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man at a house in Measham.

Leicestershire Police report they were called at around 4.50pm yesterday (December 1) by East Midlands Ambulance Service to a report of a man, in his 70s, found deceased at a house in Hart Drive.

From enquiries carried out at the scene, a 26-year-old man from Measham was arrested at the address on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

A scene preservation remains in place at the property while enquiries continue at the scene.

Detective Inspector Nicole Main, from East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: "Our investigation remains at an early stage while we continue to piece together the full circumstances surrounding this man's death.

"While our officers will be conducting local enquiries with neighbours, I would be keen to hear from anyone living locally who may have seen or heard a disturbance at the address yesterday afternoon which may be connected to this incident.

"Any information you have could be extremely important to our enquiry so please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 460 of 1 December.
