Amanda Hack, MP for North West Leicestershire, has welcomed news of new urgent care investment that will benefit North West Leicestershire patients.
Residents across North West Leicestershire are set to benefit from major new NHS investments, as new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is confirmed for Leicester Royal Infirmary alongside the expansion of services at Queen's Medical Centre.
The new UTC in Leicester represents a significant boost for patients locally, increasing capacity and ensuring quicker treatment for patients.
UTCs provide care for minor injuries and illnesses, helping to relieve pressure on A&E departments so they can focus on the most urgent cases.
For patients in North West Leicestershire, Leicester Royal remains the primary hospital for urgent care, meaning this new facility particularly important for improving access and reducing waiting times locally.
Welcoming this news, MP for North West Leicestershire Amanda Hack said: 'The new Urgent Treatment Centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary and the expansion of the UTC at Queen's Medical Centre are hugely welcome steps for people in North West Leicestershire, helping to increase capacity across our local hospitals.
'Having visited both hospitals and met with East Midlands Ambulance Service, I have seen first-hand the pressure on overcrowded A&E departments and the ambulance queues waiting to hand patients over. This investment will help ensure more patients are seen quickly, safely, and with dignity.
'It is exactly this kind of practical, frontline improvement we need, easing pressure on emergency services while making sure residents can access the right care, in the right place, at the right time.'
