Ashby Brazilian jiu-jitsu team take national championship titles

The Ashby Brazilian jiu-jitsu team have taken part in their first team competition, with two members of the team becoming national champions.
The jiu-jitsu team train at Motiv8 Studio in Ashby and competed in their first elite event, the BJJ National Championships.
The first team that competed, two became national champions and one student came in at a draw and conceded on advantage point, taking bronze position.

According to coach Craig, he said: 'all [participants] fought really well and gave a great account of our team.
'We are planning to compete monthly with an aim to make Ashby-de-la-Zouch well known in the BJJ community.'
One of the team also fought in the open weight category and won bronze at yellow belt level.
Overall, the team took a gold and bronze in yellow belt and gold and bronze in white belt.
They are next competing at the Nottingham Open and British Open Championship in May.
The team are looking for local sponsorship as well.
