A new staff bus service started in January 2026 and is now operating from Leicester and Coalville to Mercia Park, one of North West Leicestershire's largest logistics hubs.

With supply chain performance improvement partner Unipart and global supply chain solutions manager DSV both operating out of multiple units at the site, and Scolmore, a significant force in the electrical accessory market, also taking a unit, there is a workforce of over 2,000 staff working on-site.

Varying work volumes mean that recruitment occurs throughout the year both directly and through employment agencies; with the new service, those jobs are now open to job seekers in Leicester and Coalville who don't drive.

Running three times per day each way to serve morning, afternoon and night shifts, there are pick up stops in Leicester city centre, Belgrave Circle, Fosse Road Corner and Glenfield, and then in Groby, Markfield and Coalville.

Staff are dropped off close to each of the units at Mercia Park for the main shift starts, and picked up there after shift end times.

Staff can pre-book their journeys using the 'mybudie Passenger' mobile app, with a guaranteed seat on luxury minicoaches operated by Leicestershire firm Roberts Travel Group, and fares are £3.70 per day or £12.65 per week, which is just £2.53 per day return for a five-day shift pattern.

The service started on 4th January this year and is being promoted and funded by IM Properties on behalf of all companies based at Mercia Park. It will run to the end of June this year and will be continued if successful.

David Smith, Director, Planning & Communities at IMP, announcing the new service, stated: "IM Properties are committed to providing fair and sustainable access to job opportunities. We already fund bus services from Burton-upon-Trent, Swadlincote and Tamworth to Mercia Park and are pleased to introduce this new service to support the growing workforce there."

Steve Clarke, Unipart's Mercia Park Business Director, said: "We are pleased to see the implementation of this new service, which makes commuting to Mercia Park easier and more sustainable for our people. This is a vital step in further supporting our local community."

Current staff and job seekers can find out about the service on the Roberts Travel website - https://www.robertstravelgroup.co.uk/mercia-park-staff-transport-services where the timetable and booking information can be found.
