Moment of Reflection to be held in Ashby on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral

A Moment of Reflection on the eve of the funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be held at St Helen's Church in Ashby on Sunday.

It is due to take place at 8pm in the church yard in Church Street.

At 19.55, members of the community will be asked to gather at the Church before being welcomed to the brief vigil thrree minutes later.

At 8pm, a whistle will sound and a minute's silence will be held.

After tha, a Proclamation of The King's Accession, will be read by Councillor John Deakin, Mayor of Ashby de la Zouch

The vigil concludes with all present saying: God Save The King and the singing of the National Anthem

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council says that, during the minute's silence, those present will have an opportunity to reflect on the lifetime of service which Her late Majesty devoted to the United Kingdom, the Realms and Territories and to the Commonwealth.

On the night, those gathered will be told: "The Queen was sure in her faith and steadfast in her duty, bringing constancy through 70 years of change.

"We will remember Her late Majesty with affection and gratitude and silently give thanks in our hearts for her unswerving devotion to us and to our Country. Ladies and gentlemen."
