A Moira breast cancer survivor has used the inspiration she received during her recovery to start her own health and well being clinic.
Emma De Jonge will launch The Pixie Retreat at a special open day on Saturday (4-8pm) at 7 High Street, Woodville, above Buckenham's Hair and Beauty.
But it is more than just a business for Emma who went through a treatment of chemotherapy between 2011 and 2012.
During that time, she had therapy from a woman called Josie - and it was her words inspiration that moved Emma to provide a similar role.
"It all started when I had my breast cancer and was treated by Burton hospital," explained Emma who works at Forest Holidays, next to Conkers, in Moira.
"For my operation and my chemotherapy, at that time you'd get therapies through the NHS, in between your chemo cycles, that help you feel better about things and discuss any issues.
"I had a lady called Josie who gave me aromatherapy.
"Josie was a breast cancer survivor herself, so it wasn't just her amazing therapies that made me feel better, but the fact of actually seeing someone who's been on my journey and come out the other side.
"She was stood there looking like a complete woman and was a bit of a role model in so much as you could look at her and think everything is going to be all right.
"So I could judge by Josie's journey and she counselled me along the way.
"It helped with my mental state of mind as well as the physical side.
"And I just thought: 'Wouldn't it be lovely if everybody could have someone like Josie to help them along'."
That sparked the idea for The Pixie Retreat where Emma will offer armotheraphy, massage therapy, relfelxology and Reiki along with ear candling and pregnancy massage - with oncology massage to follow later in the year.
"People can drop in on Saturday and find out what it's all about," added Emma.
"We wanted to create a safe, warm, inviting and relaxing environment.
"I'll also offer a mobile service to anyone who can't get to the room.
"Forest Holidays have allowed me to do Corporate wellbeing days in the office for my colleagues who can book 15 or 30 minute appointments during their working day with donations being made to MIND."
The Pixie Retreat opens next week and will be open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and all day Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, Prices will be in the region of £35 for an hour's treatment.
