Men arrested on suspicion of two sets of assaults in Ashby - after attempt to run from officers

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of assaults during incidents on an Ashby housing estate yesterday morning (Sunday).

Leicestershire Police confirmed that they were held "on suspicion of causing criminal damage, assault by beating and assault of an emergency worker".

Police were called to Prestop Road in Ashby at 9am after reports of damage being caused to a window.

The men thought to be involved had left the area.

However, two hours later, they returned and police gave chase on foot.

Officers then attended a property in Burton Road where one of the men was arrested.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Ashby Nub News today (Monday): "At 9am yesterday, a report was received that damage had been caused to the window of a property in Prestop Road, Ashby.

"Officers attended but two men had left the scene.

"A further call was received just after 11am stating the men had returned.

"Two men aged 21 and 19 were both arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage, assault by beating and assault of an emergency worker.

"They have both been released on bail."
