The Olive Terrace is a beautifully curated Mediterranean lounge, restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Ashby run by 24-year-old Sophia with support from her family and friends.

Sophia Jones is the 24-year-old behind The Olive Terrace, a busy new food and drink venue on Ashby's Bath Street.

Since opening, it has been praised for excellent food and drinks, as well as a friendly atmosphere and great service.

As their motto 'Mediterranean flavours. Made for Sharing' suggests, the menu is packed full of sharing options and mezze plates, making it a great spot to come together and share food with family and friends.

They offer lunch and dinner menus, as well as options for the little ones, as well as an extensive selection of classic and unique cocktails.

The outside terrace transports you to a Greek island, with bright, summery décor attracting many Ashby locals in the hot weather.

The restaurant is managed and run by Sophia Jones, who has worked in a vast array of hospitality jobs since the age of 15.

She is helped by dad Paul and mum Sam, who is best known locally as the face behind The Orchid of Ashby.

It was her mum's success with The Orchid that inspired Sophia to take the jump to open the Olive Terrace, after spending a lot of time working alongside her mum and watching the business grow from the ground up into a thriving café and restaurant.

Sophia acknowledges that taking on challenge of The Olive Terrace was extremely daunting but said: 'When you get an opportunity like that coming at you, you've just got to go for it.'

The family moved from Hertfordshire originally, falling in love with Ashby's friendly residents and independent shops and restaurants.

'Round here it's a real community,' explained Sophia, 'it's nice that everyone knows everyone.'

It's clear that community and connection are really at the heart of the business, with Sophia's parents and friends pitching in to help the Terrace get up and running.

They have prioritised hiring staff locally and are currently hiring a full-time kitchen assistant and pot wash to join their growing team.

At the moment, the business is concentrating on establishing themselves locally as a great spot for excellent food and drink, as well as planning to introduce live music nights and other community events soon.

Sophia hopes in the future to continue growing and expanding The Olive Terrace, possibly opening new locations in the future.

Right now, it is clear The Olive Terrace's opening months have made a strong impression on Ashby residents, and the team hope to continue this growth in the town.
