North West Leicestershire's Primary Care Network says more than 1,000 people were vaccinated during the first three days of the new Measham Centre being opened.

The vaccination facility has been treating the district's Over-80s group since Friday.

And the operation appears to be running as smoothly as was hoped.

We reported over the weekend that one patient was being vaccinated every four minutes We go behind the scenes at Measham's vaccination centre.

And now it looks like the weekend tally ran well into four figures in terms of giving people the jab.

A post from the Primary Care Network reads: "North West Leicestershire Primary Care Network is made up of the 12 practices in the area and provides services for more than 100,000 people living here in our locality.

"The PCN team of nine, which includes four GPs, has organised the Covid vaccination centre at Measham Leisure Centre.

"With the support of other GPs, nurses and admin staff, more than 1,000 people have been vaccinated during the past three days.

"The PCN team have been humbled and delighted by the positive feedback they have received from patients and official visitors to the site. Here's looking forward to the next 1000!"

Three taxi firms are offering free trips to the age groups who cannot get to Measham.

Coalville Yellow Cabs posted: "The Covid express service has swung into action with several customers receiving free transport to and from Measham vaccination centre. Early reports seem to suggest the service at Measham is working very efficiently."

CK Cars added: "Third lockdown and very little work in the diary for us. Time to try and do some good with the spare time I find myself with.

"If you know somebody who has a Covid vaccination planned and is struggling to arrange transport to and from their local vaccination point then CK Cars will offer a FREE chauffeur ride in our Tesla Model 3, Mercedes E Class or Tourneo Custom for residents of Coalville, Whitwick, Thringstone, Hugglescote, Ellistown, Ibstock, Ashby and the surrounding area to get them to and from their appointment.

"All we ask in return is you pay it forward by helping to make somebody else's day a little brighter or with a small donation to the charity of your choice.

ADT Taxis in Coalville are also providing a free service to Measham.
