Matters being discussed in upcoming Ashby Town Council finance and events meeting

On Monday 12 January, Ashby Town Council will hold a public meeting of the Finance and Events Committee.
Applications for discussion include:
- A funding application for £158.50 for the Ashby Footpath Group for a reference book on Rights of Way and Public Liability Insurance
- Ashby Town ABC (Amateur Boxing Club) application for £1,500 to help cover initial rent contributions and the purchase of gloves and equipment to be used during club sessions
There will also be a discussion of the draft budget for the 2026/27 financial year, which will be put forward for approval at the full Town Council meeting on Monday 26 January.
The draft budget can be viewed on page 41 of the meeting agenda.
The finance committee will also present an update of the replacement of the existing boiler at Legion House with a more energy efficient alternative, in line with their goal to reduce the Town Council's carbon footprint.
There will also be an update from Ashby BID on £50,000 of UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF). The joint application by Ashby Town Council and Ashby BID put forward the following projects to improve town centre:
- Large outdoor art mural installation on the wall of Costa,
- New bike racks,
- Three new benches outside Boots and Costa,
- Mill Lane Mews signage x 2,
- New signage for Royal Mail sorting office,
- Two welcome to Ashby signs to replace existing ones at New Packington and Measham Road
- Brown tourism sign for Ashby Castle,
- 10,000 A5 welcome backs to be distributed to estate agents and new housing developers,
- 10,000 Ashby leaflets,
- Upgrades to the four map boards and dispensers.
This meeting will take place on Monday 12 January at 6.30pm at Legion House.
This meeting can also be attended in person and will have the opportunity for questions to be asked.
