A man died after his vehicle hit a tree in Tonge on Monday (Tuesday, September 17).

Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Leicestershire Police say they were called to Moor Lane at around 3.20pm following a report that a grey Volkswagen Golf had left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A road closure, which was in place for several hours, has since been removed.

Detective Inspector Steve Kilsby, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "Our enquiries to establish how the car came to leave the road are continuing and I'd like to speak to anyone who can help.

"I'm particularly keen to speak to any motorists with a dashcam or who saw the Golf prior to the collision occurring.

"Anything you're able to tell us could assist our investigation."
