Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Drink Driving After Ashby Collision Which Caused Road Closure

A man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a two-car collision in Ashby yesterday evening (Monday).

Smisby Road was closed for more than two hours following the incident while police and a recovery vehicle attended the scene.

There were no casualties as a result of the collision, but the arrested man was still in police custody today (Tuesday).

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 5.45pm yesterday to a report of a collision involving two cars in Smisby Road, Ashby.

"Officers attended the scene and a man, 32, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

"He remains in police custody.

"No one was injured in the incident.

"The road was blocked temporarily as a result."
