Man arrested for assaulting police officer and drug seized during World Cup match in Ashby

In an update from North West Leicestershire Police following the England versus Panama match on Saturday, they shared a number of arrests were made in Ashby Town Centre.
According to the force, 'early in the evening, a male was arrested after assaulting one of our response officers.'
The male is being interviewed today (29 June) and the officer's wellbeing has been checked.
Drug detection dogs Loki and Bentley were also out in town.
'Thanks to their excellence work,' said NWL Police, 'several stop and searches were carried out with cannabis, edibles and drug paraphernalia seized.'
A driver was also arrested for failing to provide a sample for testing after Police stopped a vehicle suspected of drink driving.
At the end of the evening, there was two reports of fights, with enquiries still ongoing with support from local CCTV.
