Ashby boxing and martial arts studio invites public to open day
By Grace Kennington 29th Jun 2026
Motiv8, a boxing, fitness and martial arts studio in the heart of Ashby, is inviting residents to come and get a feel for the club at their upcoming open day.
The open day is taking place on Friday 11 July from 10am to 3pm, where visitors will be given a warm welcome, a tour around the studio, the chance to meet the team and get a feel for what the club has to offer.
There will also be live demonstrations from the coaches, exclusive membership discounts and the opportunity to ask any questions.
Motiv8 was first set up by Liam Parker in 2008 and was joined by Jimmy Bryan in 2020, who has been a member of the gym since he was 18.
Jimmy had a vision for the club, wanting to create a 'unique space that was accessible,' that could help teach the importance of discipline, resiliance and confidence in a positive and safe environment.
In April 2025, Motiv8 invested £80,000 into the gym, completely revamping the space with a new, high-quality strength and fitness gym, along with boxing ring, sauna and ice bath.
A key part of the club is also it's strong community feel, with a community space being included in the renovations, where club members could spend time in.
Whether that is somewhere youngsters use to do homework before their boxing class or somewhere to have a quiet minute after training, the hope is that the gym can give their community a safe and welcoming environment to bring out their best.
They are also increasing the gym's reach in the community, offering alternative educational provision for young people and visiting Ashby's social and youth groups to share boxing as a positive force for personal change.
