Man arrested following suspected hit-and-run of pedestrian in his 70s in Ashby

Following an incident on Monday 15 September, a man in his 70s was left in life threatening condition after a collision with a car in Ashby. A 33-year-old man has now been arrested. 

Police were called to the junction between Hill Street and Kilwardby Street just after 9.30pm on Monday 15 September by the East Midlands Ambulance Service. 

A man in his 70s was treated at the scene following a collision with a car, which then drove off.  

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

On Wednesday 17 September, Leicestershire Police announced that a 33-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody. 

It is now known the car involved in the collision was a silver Vauxhall Insignia. 

According to a statement published by police, 'Officers are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage that could help the investigation to come forward.'
