A lorry driver had to be freed from his cab and taken to hospital; after a collision on the A42 Junction 11 Appleby Magna and Measham Junction this morning.

The junction was closed after the incident which happened just before 6.30am.

East Midlands Ambulance attended the scene and the driver was taken to Royal Derby Hospital but there are no updates on his injuries.

Leicestershire Police said fire Services were also called to the incident to free the driver from his cab.

Only one vehicle was involved but it closed the junction which meant drivers on the A42 could not come off there and had to carry on to the next exit.

Police reopened the road at around 9.30pm but warned of backlogs in the area.
