The team at an opticians in Ashby de la Zouch have been busy collecting donations for the local foodbank with help from the local community.
Specsavers on Market Street, which is locally owned and run, has been donating one item for every customer feedback form received. The team have raised enough money over the last three months to buy and donate 350 essential items to the Ashby Foodbank, including tinned goods and hygiene products. The team also donated 100 Easter eggs to the charity to be distributed to families in the community.
'We're committed to supporting the foodbank as much as possible,' Kuljinder Bains, store director at Specsavers Ashby de la Zouch, says. 'It's really important to us that we give back to our community and we'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has completed a feedback form over the last few months and helped us donate so many items.
'As a team, we'll be continuing to support the foodbank this year, and customers can continue to support us by completing the feedback form after they visit us in-store.'
Ashby Foodbank provides three days' nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. The charity is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
