Leicestershire Police have published the statistics for their Drink Drug Drive campaign in December, reporting 132 arrests during the campaign. 

Of the 132 arrests, this included 85 drink driver, 35 drug drivers and 12 drivers who failed to provide a sample. 

Of those arrested, 47 out of 132 were arrested following a roadside collision. 

24 out of the 132 were detained between 8am and 5pm and 30 were drivers aged 24 or under. 

12 of the arrests were in North West Leicestershire. 

Spokesperson for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership Jonathan Clarkson said: 'It is extremely disappointing that so many drivers chose to ignore our advice and made the wrong choice to get behind the wheel while over the limit and now face the prospect of starting 2026 with a criminal conviction.'
