Labour is currently on course to win the North West Leicestershire seat at the General Election, according to the results of a Nub News poll.

The independent survey of Nub News newsletter subscribers in Ashby and Coalville found just under 36 per cent of readers would vote for Labour's Amanda Hack, if the election were to be held today.

But the outcome is likely to be a close-run thing.

Conservative Party candidate Craig Smith gets the vote of almost 33 per cent of Nub News readers.

Those two have few challengers according to our results - with the nearest candidate being Noel Matthews, representing Reform, who was favoured by less than 20 per cent of the poll.

After that, it was Carl Benfield of the Green Party (6.33 per cent) who was ahead of the Liberal Democrat candidate Alice Delemare, who attracted less than three per cent of readers.

It also looks bleak for Andrew Bridgen, who is defending the seat he won as a Conservative.

In 2019, he won with a majority of around 20,000, polling more than 62 per cent of the vote in North West Leicestershire.

Now, after being thrown out of the Conservative Party, he is standing as an Independent candidate. In this poll, he returned just 2.71 per cent of the sample, the same as the Liberal Democrats.

The other Independent candidate, Siobhan Dillon, got less than one per cent of the poll. The results are below.

NORTH WEST LEICESTERSHIRE

Ashby and Coalville

Carl Benfield (Green) 6.33%

Andrew Bridgen (Independent) 2.71%

Alice Delemare (Liberal Democrat) 2.71%

Siobhan Dillon (Independent) 0.23%

Amanda Hack (Labour) 35.75%

Noel Matthews (Reform UK) 19.46%

Craig Smith (Conservative) 32.81%

Ashby Nub News polled 442 newsletter subscribers between 12.30pm on Wednesday (June 12) and midnight on Thursday. Readers were only able to register a single vote for one of the seven candidates. Results were not weighted demographically and did not include the Castle Donington or Kegworth areas.
