Ivanhoe School is supporting Leicestershire Charity Toys on the Table as its Christmas appeal this year.

Toys on the Table has been running since the 1980s and receives referrals from Social Services of children - regardless of faith - across Leicester and Leicestershire who, without support from the charity, would receive no gifts over the festive season.

Last year, nearly 5,000 young people were referred, and with most children receiving a small number of gifts, this means the donations of gifts or cash are making a huge difference to young people's lives.

Not only will the North Street-based school be collecting gift donations from staff and students, but Ivanhoe is also co-ordinating a collection for the Ashby area.

The school will have two collection days for local businesses and members of the community, on Wednesday and Thursday, December 6 and 7.

All gift donations can be dropped off at the school on those days.

They will then be collected by the charity volunteers for distribution.

Students and staff can bring their donations from December 6-8 (Wednesday to Friday).
