Pupils from Ivanhoe College donated 1,200 tins to Ashby Foodnank as part of their new 'click and collect' housepoint exchange scheme,

Students had an option to exchange some of their points for donations to Foodbank.

And they impressed staff with their kindness and generosity in the last two weeks of term to exchange enough house points to purchase 1,200 tins of food donations.

The college's admin team, helped by the community champion at Tesco, rallied together to get food bought and donated before the school closed for the Christmas break on December 17 - with another load ready to be delivered after Christmas.

Ashby Foodbank says it does not think anyone in the community should have to face going hungry.

It provides three days' nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred in crisis.

Ashby Food Bank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
