Ashby United Join Council's Disability Friendly Sports Clubs Scheme

Ashby United Community Football Club has become a bronze accredited member of the North West Leicestershire District Council Inclusive Club Scheme - which helps sports clubs to become more disability friendly.

Two of the main reasons that people with disabilities do not take part in sport are because they don't know what is out there for them, and they worry they will not be good enough to take part.

To try and break down these barriers, Ashby United has committed to the following:

  • Appointing Disability Activators so that any questions about the club and opportunities can be answered
  • Training the team so that they are more confident at reaching and supporting people with disabilities to take part in sport
  • Regularly updating and adjusting procedures and practices to reflect the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Putting inclusion at the centre of everything the club do.

If you would like to know any more information about the club's commitment to being disability friendly, please call the Activators on 07788410979 or Email: [email protected].
