Husband and wife team, Ange and Richard Bebbington's Rome2Home cycling challenge gets under way next month - with a date already booked at an Ashby restaurant on their return.

They will be cycling from Rome to Ashby de la Zouch in aid of Wishes 4 Kids, 11 years after completing the Home2 Rome cycle challenge.

But they knew they always wanted to do the return leg.

Having supported the Leicestershire charity, the Ashby-based couple will begin their ride from Rome on August 22.

The 1500-mile challenge will see them cycling through the undulating landscape of Italy, over the Alps, along the French roads to Caen, before catching a ferry back to the UK.

That leaves Portsmouth on September 12 - and they will receive a welcome home at Zamani's Restaurant on Saturday, September 14.

Richard and Ange are no strangers to taking part in challenges for the Leicestershire charity.

Having supported them for 20 years, they have trekked to Everest Base Camp, run marathons, organised long-distance walks, jumped out of a plane and cycled Home2Rome, helping to raise many thousands of pounds.

The return leg, Rome2Home, will be no different to other adventures the couple have pursued, self-funded, self-organised, and self-supported, meaning every penny raised will go directly to making an ill child's wish come true.

The couple will be updating their FaceBook page, Rome2Home, throughout the challenge. They also have a justgiving page where people can donate, [www.justgiving.com/page/wishes4kids2024]www.justgiving.com/page/wishes4kids2024.
