How Ashby Businesses Are Booming During Lockdown

For many businesses, 2020 has been the toughest year they have ever had to go through.

With customers under lockdown, and strict rules regarding socialising and meeting in enclosed spaces, many business sectors will be glad to put this year behind them.

But it's not all doom and gloom.

This has also been a time for new life and business rejuvenation too.

At Ashby web design agency, DLZ Design (Click HERE to see the company website) we have been really inspired by the new clients we have been working with.

We thought we'd spread some happiness and positivity by sharing some of the projects we've been involved with, and their personal story behind it.

Firstly, there has been a big rise in new businesses starting up: many people had been stuck in jobs which they had fallen out of love with and COVID-19 has given them a once-in-a-lifetime chance to make a break and set up on their own - perhaps pursuing a passion or side business they had running for a while, or by finding new business opportunities as a result of the way life has changed due to COVID-19.

Physiotherapist Simon Noad from Vitalize Physiotherapy saw a big influx of referrals after the government encouraged us to be getting an hour of exercise a day!

Another way we have seen businesses booming is by diversification: business owners have been challenged to consider how they can adapt to the "new normal" by creating products and services which enable their customers to make the most of the restrictions.

One particular sector which has been booming is the garden and leisure sector. Ashby-based Midland Marquees saw a huge growth in their outdoor entertaining products, especially firepits and pizza ovens, as homeowners embraced the lockdown and made the best of the Summer days - and surely an anticipation of more time to be spend outside as we move into the colder months with restrictions still in place.

We have been inspired by the grit and determination of Ashby businesses, and if there's one thing which has stood out above all others, it's that the Ashby Community love to support local businesses.

Now more than ever. Whether it's Taylor's Butchers, or Ashby Toolbox, or one of the gorgeous boutiques like Noami selling their handmade masks, it is clear that Ashby businesses have the support of their community and it is all of our responsibility to ensure we continue to do our bit!
