Hospice Hope is one of 70 organisations in the county to receive a Platinum award as part of Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.

The Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Michael Kapur OBE, has chosen those organisations to be specially recognised.

Hospice Hope says it is honoured and delighted to be one of the recipients.

It has been chosen for the amount of work it has done with people with life-limiting conditions, and their carers, over a 20-year period.

This work ranges from pop-in support cafes, a day centre, befriending, counselling, Long Covid treatment and online support.

David Lindley presents the award to Stewart Shepherd

Last week, Deputy Lieutenant, Mr David Lindley visited Hospice Hope at its Ashby support cafe and presented a plaque.

The award recognises the work of Hospice Hope's volunteers, trustees and staff many of whom were able to attend this special occasion.

Mr Lindley spoke about the important work that Hospice Hope does and how pleased he was to be able to present the award.

Stewart Shepherd, chair of Hospice Hope, thanked Mr Lindley for his kind words and confirmed that this award recognises the work of all involved with Hospice Hope.
