Builders Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes have written to Ashby residents to warn them about the start of 18 months of disruption on the A511 - as work begins on the Money Hill housing development.

Work is about to begin on a new roundabout which will lead to the construction of a road off the bypass to allow the first works traffic to gain access to the site.

A number of trees have already been cleared to allow work to start next month.

Taylor Wimpey and Bloor say they are aware of the disruption this will cause.

In a letter to residents, the companies say: "We are writing to inform you of work we will be carrying out to construct a new roundabout and junction off the A511 Ashby bypass which will become the primary access point for a new development by Taylor Wimpey and Bloor Homes.

"These works were approved in the outline planning permission for the Money Hill development which was approved by North West Leicestershire District Council in 2017.

"Leicestershire County Council Highways will be introducing traffic restrictions on April 9 to allow the works to proceed.

"These restrictions will last for approximately 18 months and include a formal traffic regulation order for temporary closures and speed limit and parking restrictions.

"We understand that these restrictions will cause some inconvenience and for that we apologise. The works will be closely monitored throughout to ensure that disruption is minimised as far as is possible.

"We thank you in advance for your cooperation while the works are carried out. If you have any queries about the work you can get in touch by calling 01162 816400."

A map of the planned works has been issued by the two companies - you can see that above.
