By Grace Kennington 12th Aug 2026
The winners have been crowned for the 28th annual Heather Scarecrow Festival, celebrating creativity, ingenuity and best use of straw.
The festival ran from 2 to 9 August, drawing in hundreds of visitors to follow the scarecrow guide and vote on their favourites.
Now, the votes are in and the top 15 scarecrows from the public vote has been revealed, along with the Di Everett Award.
In first place this year was the 'Monsters Incrowporated', winning a prize of £100.
Toy Straw-y came in second place and won £75, followed by 'Every life has a story' in third place.

The top 15 scarecrow designs were chosen by public vote and all received a prize. To see the full list of winners, click here.
Every year, the Di Everett Award is also judged independently, determined on the best use of straw.
Diane Everett, known as Di, had the idea for the first Heather Scarecrow Festival in 1988, where just three scarecrows were displayed.
Di has since passed away but her legacy lives on in the scarecrow festival, which has continued to grow and flourish.
This year's winner of the Di Everett Award was number 46 'Six Seven' for the best use of straw.
