Gladiator 'Steel' pays a special visit to speak to pupils at Packington CofE Primary School

Packington CofE Primary School were paid a special visit from Zack George - also known as 'Steel' - from the hit TV show Gladiators on Tuesday.
Organised by the Packington School Association (PSA), this inspiring event gave the excited children a chance to learn from a real-life athlete about confidence, healthy eating, and the power of a positive mindset.
During his visit, Zack kicked off the morning with a presentation to the whole school, where he shared valuable lessons on building confidence, making healthy food choices and the importance of hydration, engaging in mindset activities, and practising breathing techniques to improve focus and resilience.
Following the assembly, he visited each classroom, giving pupils the unique opportunity to ask questions, take photos and collect an autograph from the Gladiators star.
Headteacher, Ruth Burton, who is passionate about creating enriching learning experiences for her students, was thrilled to welcome Zack to the school.
She said: "Packington is a small school, but we are determined that all our pupils have the very best education possible - and that we work hard to create big opportunities for our pupils.
"Having a real life Gladiator and inspiring role model like Zack visit us was an incredible experience for our children."
The Leicestershire-based athlete and TV Gladiator told the children that 'anything is possible' and hoped his own fitness journey could provide a source of inspiration to them.
He recalled his childhood dream was to become a Gladiator and went on to explain to the children how hard work, determination and positive attitude helped him to achieve that.
The pupils eagerly participated in Zack's interactive presentation, asking plenty of interesting questions — from finding out who the funniest Gladiator is and how many times he has lost against a contender, to discovering his favourite instrument.
Supporting Zack's healthy eating messages, the PSA further enhanced the event by providing fresh fruit platters as a healthy snack for the children, made possible through a generous donation from Tesco in Ashby.
Mrs Burton continued: "We are grateful to our fantastic PSA group for making this happen and to Tesco Ashby for their generous contribution."
The visit proved to be an unforgettable experience for the children and staff alike, reinforcing the school's commitment to well-being, motivation, and healthy living.
