Gas works will cause disruption in Smisby Road area in Ashby during January and February

Residents and drivers in the Smisby Road area face delays during January and February due to gas mains work.

Network Plus says that gas mains replacements will be carried out - and started on Tuesday (January 2).

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has been informed of the works and the roads which will be affected.

Network Plus has made details of known of three dates on which work will take place.

A letter to the council says: "We will be replacing the gas mains on and around Marlborough Way and Smisby Road.

"Approximate dates are subject to change if we hit any engineering difficulties, and traffic management will be required.

"Customer liaison officers have been carrying out customer engagement for the past couple of weeks and liaising closely with the nearby school."

On January 2, three-way traffic lights were set up at the junction of Northfields and Smisby Road.

Three-way lights will also be in use on January 8 at the junction of Marlborough Way and Smisby Road.

But there will be a full road closure on Smisby Road, The Callis and Derby Road on February 26.
