Football: Ashby Ivanhoe Are Seeking To Appoint A Child Welfare Officer

Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club are looking to appoint a Welfare Officer

The club says it is committed to ensuring a safe and fun environment - and as part of their expansion, they are looking for looking for volunteers to undertake the role of the Child Welfare Officer.

Ashby Ivanhoe welcomes applications from both people involved already at the club, and from those members of the community that would like to be involved and who feel that they have the following attributes: Always puts children's welfare first; Is a good communicator; Has a common sense approach; Is willing to learn and seek advice; Is over the age of 18; Is committed to working collaboratively within football's designated persons network

The club has also highlighted the key roles and responsibilities: 1. To be clear about the club's responsibilities when running activities for children and young people.

This involves: Ensuring these responsibilities are well understood by others; Working with the Youth League Welfare Officer; Working with the County FA (CFA) Welfare Officer and other CFA staff as appropriate, (e.g. CFA Disciplinary staff); Helping to develop best-practice processes and promoting The FA's Respect Programme

  1. To help club personnel understand what their 'duty of care' towards children and young people actually means and entails on a day-to-day basis

It is essential that the Club Welfare Officer is perceived as being approachable, having a child centred approach and the ability to maintain this perspective when carrying out their role.

Ashby Ivanhoe also says they will supports the successful applicant gain the following qualifications as part of their role: An 'accepted' CRB check via The FA CRB Unit; The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop; The FA Welfare Officer Workshop
