Man arrested on suspicion of 'attempted arson with an attempt to endanger life' at Ashby pub is released on bail
A man arrested on suspicion of attempted arson 'with an attempt to endanger life' at an Ashby pub has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Emergency services were called to the Bull's Head just after 8pm, on Sunday, September 8 - and Market Street was closed to traffic by police at the junctions of Brook Street and Lower Church Street.
That was as a result of 'concern for the welfare' of the man, 41.
Leicestershire Fire Service attended to the front and rear of the pub building - with four crews at the scene.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told Ashby Nub News: "Shortly after 8pm on Sunday, September 8) police were called to a pub in Market Street, Ashby, by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
"The call related to concern for the welfare of a man inside the pub.
"Officers attended and a 41-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempting arson with intent to endanger life."
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service also provided details of the incident.
A spokesperson told Ashby Nub News: "We received a call at 20:10 last night (Sunday) and sent out appliances from Ashby, Coalville, and Western Station.
"Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service sent out an appliance from Melbourne Station. We can confirm this was a false alarm and the incident has been left with the Police."
