A driver who was seriously injured after a collision on the A42 between Measham and Ashby on Sunday evening (31 October) has sadly died.

The collision occurred around 6.40pm on the southbound carriageway and involved two vehicles, a blue Peugeot 108 and a HGV lorry.

The lorry was stationary parked in a bay on the side of the road when the collision occurred.

The car crossed two lanes and came to rest near the central reservation.

The driver of the car sustained serious injuries and was taken to University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire, where he sadly passed away yesterday evening (Monday 1 November).

Also, if anyone was travelling along this road on Sunday evening and has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles, they are being asked to check the footage and get in touch with the police if they captured anything that may help with enquiries.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4695 Louise McMahon on 101, quoting incident 634 of 31 October.
