Ashby's King Charles III Coronation Party in the park has been confirmed for May.

The free public event will take place on May 7 between 12-5pm at the Bath Grounds.

Full details have still to be finalised, but Ashby de la Zouch Town Council says there will be live music, magic, entertainment as well as food and drink.

Visitors are advised to bring their own chairs or picnic blanket.

The event will have the same stage as is used for the Christmas event and will have entertainment on throughout the day.

That will ended with a performance from Madison Avenue - a Soul & Motown band

A magician, Punch & Judy, Duet & Choir are also booked in to perform on the day.

Ashby de la Zouch town centre manager Stuart Benson said: "There'll be plenty of audience participation taking place with other attractions still to add to the event.

"It should be a fantastic free day out for the whole community to enjoy."

The council's events committee decided last year not to hold another street party in the town centre this time.

Ashby has become well known for its Jubilee celebrations in Market Street over the years.

But last October's events committee hinted that a 'proms style' event would be taking place this time.

It means the money saved on road closures in and around Market Street can be put towards the Coronation event.
