Leicestershire County Council is to introduce a no waiting area around a recently constructed road off Burton Road.
School Lane now has the Castle Medical Centre, the Central Co-op and a primary school within a comparatively small area of Ashby.
But, with the supermarket car park and surgery often full at peak hours, more drivers have been parking on School Lane.
Now the county council wants to restrict that parking 'on the grounds of road safety'.
A plan of the area shows that there will be no waiting around the entrance to School Lane, and the supermarket and health centre car parks.
The no waiting restrictions will also extend to the nearby Beeches Restaurant on Burton Road.
Ashby de la Zouch Town Council's planning committee was presented with the plans at last month's meeting.
The county council's message reads: "Leicestershire County Council, proposes to make the following order on behalf of developers Matrix Medical Property Investments Ltd, to introduce no waiting at any time restrictions on School Lane and Burton Road, Ashby .
"The proposed restrictions seek to mitigate the impact of potentially obstructive on-street and footway parking on School Lane, and around its junction with Burton Road, to benefit the safety for all road users in this location.
"This scheme has been introduced on the grounds of road safety."
