Ashby's Castle Medical Group has suspended Sit and Wait clinics as part of its Coronavirus plans.

The Burton Road Surgery operated the system which allowed patients to Castle Medical and wait if they needed to see a doctor.

But the Group's website announced on Tuesday that it would be stopped for the moment so as to keep the number of patients down to a minimum due to the spread of the virus.

The message reads: "We would like to announce that. with immediate effect, we are temporarily replacing our Sit and Wait Clinics with a telephone triage service.

"If you do have an urgent medical need please contact the practice before 10am on 01530 414131 and we will arrange for a clinician to ring you back.

"We appreciate that this maybe disappointing for patients, but as part of our contingency planning for Corona Virus we are trying to minimise the number of patients attending the practice.

"As a practice our priority is to keep patients and staff safe. We would like to thank you for your continued support."
