North West Leicestershire District Council has given an update on the latest situation with waste collections in Ashby during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Cardboard and garden waste collections are still suspended but the Council issued a full list on Monday of what is being collected, and what is not.

• Black bin, blue bag, red box and clinical waste collections are continuing as normal

• Garden waste and cardboard collections are suspended

• The suspension of these collections means waste staff are being kept safe – crews are smaller and can follow distancing guidelines

• Re-deployed staff have been trained and are helping to complete bin collections

• The main bring/mini recycling sites have been removed due to a lack of social distancing and huge amounts of fly-tipping, making the sites unsafe for residents and staff

• The Council is creating an updated specialised advice page to help you find alternate ways of disposing of garden waste and cardboard, visit My Waste

• Leicestershire County Council's Recycling and Household Waste Sites (tips) remain closed

• The Council says it is incredibly grateful for the support and patience everyone is showing them and their crews.
