Coronavirus: Ashby 20 Sets A Date And Nominates Charity For Donations
A new date has been fixed for next year's Ashby 20 - and organisers have also named a charity they would like donations to go to in recognition of last month's cancelled race.
The Aldi-sponsored event had to be called off less than 48 hours before the start due the increased spread of Coronavirus.
But work then started on the 2021 race and now a date has been revealed, Sunday, March 28.
However, the work put into this year's event - and the disappointment of seeing it come to nothing - has seen some still wanting to make donations to charity. And the race organisers have chosen Heartwize Runners - some of whose volunteers work for the NHS - as they explained in a statement released on Sunday Heartwize Runners It read: "Many of you have suggested that you'd like to support one of our nominated charities in recognition of the work we have done. "There is absolutely no obligation to do this. "Nevertheless should you want to, we'd like to suggest that you consider making a small donation to Heartwize Runners. "They are a small Leicestershire charity who provide CPR training for runners and running clubs. "Several of their volunteers work for our NHS. We know that any donation would make their day in these difficult times. "It only leaves us to let you know that next years date has been set. This being Sunday 28th March." Ashby 20 have also given an update on hoodie distribution and Refunds. You can read it in full HERE: Ashby 20 Update
