Continued road closure of A42 near Ashby hopes to reduce congestion and improve access to Coalville

Overnight closures of the A42 between at Junction 13 and the M1 as part of wider plans to improve the A511 Major Road Network at 9 key locations.
The works started on 4th August and will continue on the A42 until 13th September, working between 8pm and 7am.
These works are part of a wider scheme to improve the A511 to reduce increased capacity at key congested junctions, provide alternative access to proposed housing development in Coalville, improving connections to Leicester and East Midlands Airport and reducing delays on and off the M1 and A42.
By doing so, Leicestershire County Council hope to support public transport links in the area, promoting sustainable transport, as well as supporting the creating of new jobs and housing in Coalville.
For the vast majority of the works, only one lane of the A42 will be closed at a time, meaning the road will not be fully closed but could cause delays and increase journey times so avoiding the area around 8pm and 7am is advisable.
