Clap for Carers in Ashby: Show Your Thanks On The Doorsteps And Send Us Your Tributes

By Graham Hill

Britain is set to come out in force on to their doorsteps again tonight in support of the NHS.

And we know that Ashby residents will be among the millions doing just that again at 8pm on Thursday evening when the country will once more take part in Clap for our Carers.

If you are playing your part, let us know how your street said thank-you.

And if you're recording it on your phones, send us a copy of the video and we will highlight it on Ashby Nub News.

Tonight's tribute takes on extra significance as the threat of Coronavirus crisis was brought home to everyone in this area last weekend.

A doctor who worked at a hospital in Burton died after testing positive for coronavirus - becoming the first hospital frontline worker to lose their life to the disease.

Amged El-Hawrani, who was 55, worked at Queen's Hospital in Burton and died at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester on Saturday evening Burton doctor dies at Glenfield Hospital

So there is an extra reason to get behind the NHS tonight - among many others - just like last week when the country clapped in unison to thank those carers who have been working tirelessly to battle the outbreak.

If you missed it last week, Ashby Shows Its Appreciation For NHS you have another chance to express your gratitude again in Ashby and the surrounding areas.
