A Ashby language school founded by three sisters is to set up a second site in a Ravenstone log cabin.

The Bilingual Day Nursery and Pre-School has been granted planning permission to construct a new setting within the grounds of Woodstone Primary School.

Sisters Rachel Barsby-Robinson; Kerry Goodacre; and Stacey Dean - who all have the maiden name Barsby - set up the Ashby School in 2018.

They all live live locally and have developed their concept to provide different opportunities to the children in the area.

Aiming to open in late Autumn 2021, the nursery has a unique offering which has made their Ashby site a popular choice.

All children are immersed into Spanish and English through play by native Spanish speakers, many of whom are qualified teachers too.

No prior language knowledge is required from children before starting at the setting, and many children leave having a great level of conversational Spanish.

Rachel told Ashby Nub News: "We set up the first nursery in 2017 and opened January 2018.

"All three of us graduated from different universities with language and/or management degrees, and have all lived abroad in various countries for at least 12-18 months each.

"We speak at least one other language other than English - we fluently speak French, Spanish and Italian between us, some of us speak more than one fluently.

"We have also all taught languages to primary school children between 4-11. We all learned languages through school and university but whilst living abroad, we realised that many other countries offer language learning to much younger children and we wanted to be able to offer that here.

"There are so many benefits to learning languages at a young age and it is so much easier for children to learn languages as opposed to adults.

"There are other bilingual Spanish nurseries in different parts of the country - mostly London - but we were the first to bring one to the Midlands, and then this one in Ravenstone will be the second."

Aiming to open in late Autumn 2021, the nursery has a unique offering which has made their Ashby site a popular choice.

It will welcome children as young as three months up to four years old, and it will be open all year round from 7.30am-6pm, Monday to Friday, operating as a full day-care setting.

The Bilingual Nurseries will both have Millie's Mark Accreditation, meaning 100 per cent of staff members are paediatric First Aid trained.

The Ravenstone site also hopes to offer school holiday clubs to older children.

With a focus on child-led learning and learning through play, children have the chance to develop their independence whilst having the creativity and freedom to explore the world around them.

Both sites have a Forest School area, and the team are particularly looking forward to developing the large woodland area at the Ravenstone site along with their Forest School trained leaders.

Spaces will be limited and capped at around 30 children in total.
