Candidates for next month's Ashby de la Zouch Town Council elections have been confirmed

Candidates for the Ashby de la Zouch Town Council election in a month's time have been confirmed.

There are six wards across the parish and the polls will be open on May 4.

Council leader John Coxon will be up for re-election in Castle Ward, while Leicestershire County Council leader Nick Rushton is standing in Ivanhoe Ward.

The full list of candidates is:

Blackfordby Ward: Allen Green (Labour), Michelle Holdcroft (Labour), Rita Manning (Conservative), Andrew Woodman (Conservative).

Castle Ward: Carl Benfield (Green Party), John Coxon, (Conservative), Kenny Horn (Conservative), Jennifer Sawyer (Labour), Robert Sawyer (Labour), Yvonne Smith (Labour), Mary Tuckey (Conservative).

Holywell Ward: Roger Bayliss (Conservative), Richard Bebbington (Conservative), Malcolm Bond (Conservative), Damilola Ojuri (Labour), Elizabeth Parle (Labour), Avril Wilson (Labour).

Ivanhoe Ward: Brian Beggan (Conservative), Martin, Cooper (Liberal Democrat) Gill Hoult (Conservative), Alison Morley (Labour), Gregory Parle (Labour), Nick Rushton (Conservative), David Whetton (Labour).

Money Hill: Michael Ball (Conservative), Murrae Blair-Park (Labour), Douglas Cooper (Labour), Dan Harrison (Conservative), Ian Maskery (Labour), Pejman Zamani (Conservative).

Willesley Ward: David Bigby (Labour), Rob Bradley (Conservative), John Deakin (Conservative), Geraint Jones (Conservative), Christopher Smith (Labour), Thomas Stanley (Labour).
