North West Leicestershire Police reported that the Bomb Squad was called to New Packington on the outskirts of Ashby yesterday morning (17 June) after a suspicious object was dug up.

In an update shared by the police, the force reported that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were called to New Packington 'following the report of a possible unexploded ordnance being dug up at an address at the location.'

North West Leicestershire Beat Team and Tactical Support joined the Bomb Squad to provide support.

However, after a short investigation by the EOD, it was quickly established that 'whatever the suspicious object was, it definitely wasn't going to go kaboom.'

The EOD has now removed the object.
