It may still only be June, but the Battlefield Line has announce details of its Santa Trains for later this year.

The Shackerstone-based line is the last remaining part of the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway which was opened in 1873.

It runs from Shackerstone via Market Bosworth to Shenton in Leicestershire and is operated by the Shackerstone Railway Society - with the Ashby Canal is just a stone's throw away.

Now the Battlefield Line is already making preparations for the festive season after their 2021 Santa Trains were a huge success.

Organisers say last year was a complete sell-out, and are urging people to book quickly to avoid disappointment.

There are there are departure times each day of the weekends starting with November 26-27, the 11:30, 14:00 and 16:30 - except on the 24th, where there is no 16:30 departure this year.

And there will be three categories of ticket.

Bronze -

Passengers will be seated at their own table (each table seats up to 4) in one of our open plan coaches.

Once boarded, all adults will be offered a mince pie, and children will receive a packet of sweets.

During your return steam train journey, Santa will visit your group at your table to spread some festive joy and hand a small present to each child.

Prices start at £15 per person.

Silver -

Groups of up to eight will be seated in their own private compartment. All adults will receive a mince pie and wine, and children will get a packet of sweets and juice drink.

During the return steam train journey, Santa will visit you in the comfort of your compartment and spend time talking to the children and handing them each a great present.

Prices start at £20 per person

Gold -

Described as the Battlefield Line's flagship experience. As you slide open the door to your own private compartment, you will find inside the elves have been busy and left a plentiful hamper for you to enjoy, with a wide array of festive goodies, including wine, soft drinks, chocolates, mince pies, biscuits, crisps, satsumas and much more.

Santa will visit you in the comfort of your compartment and spend time talking to the children and handing them each a great present.

Prices start at £28 per person.
