Ahead of the Ashby Big Clean Up on Saturday 27th September, Ashby's fabulous cleaning ladies are hard at work showing town centre some much needed love. 

On Friday 19 September, Kathy and Julie were dressed up as cleaning ladies to sort out the area of Ashby Market Street by the Post Office sorting office and telephone box by Coffee #1.  

Kathy and Julie carried out the cleaning, sweeping and tidying of the pavement outside the sorting office, as well as decorating the Post Office and Telephone Box to get this run-down area looking good ahead of the Ashby Big Clean Up next weekend.

The Ashby Big Clean Up has been organised by various local organisations including Ashby Town Council, Love Ashby, Ashby BID and the Civic Society.  

The Big Clean Up is a big volunteer event taking place on Saturday 27 September with the hopes of 'Making Ashby More Fabulous'. 

According to the organisers, 'Our first aim is to make it more attractive for both residents and visitors to our great town events by cleaning the shop fronts and pavements. 

'We are asking for volunteers to flood Market Street and thoroughly sweep, weed and litter pick outside all shop fronts and pavements. 

'Retailers are invited to join in and clean their windowsills and base boards. Councillors will also join in, roll their sleeves up and have a bit of fun.' 

The clean-up will be taking place from 9am to 10.30am on Saturday 17th September, with volunteers invited to meet at the WI garden by Paddington at 9am. This will be followed by refreshment supplied by Zamani's.
