Ashby's Castle Medical Group says it is upgrading its telephone system this week to put an end to problems the Burton Road centre has been having this year.

A message on the Castle Medical website says the work will be taking place this Tuesday (December 8).

The centre will also hold a flu clinic four days later on December 12.

Castle Medical's messages read: "Our telephone system is being upgraded on Tuesday, December 8. We are looking forward to seeing an end to the current issues we have been experiencing over the past few months.

"You may experience some disruption over the course of the day whilst work on the system is being carried out, for which we apologise for in advance and we thank you for bearing with our staff during this time.

"You are reminded that should you experience problems contacting us on the phone there is an alternative option of using our online consultation service for medical advice or a general enquiry HERE.

"We understand that patients have received letters which have been sent out by the national team, in relation to having a Flu Vaccination.

"We do still have a limited number of vaccinations in stock and we will be running a flu clinic on the 12th December.

"Please note that we are only able to provide these vaccinations for people who are eligible which includes:

  • Patients aged 65 or over
  • Patients who are in an at risk group
  • Patients aged 50 - 64 years who are not in an at risk group

"We are now receiving a high volume of calls.

"Where possible please can we request that you book your appointment using SystmOnline or via the NHS App (you will to be registered with these services to use them) where possible."
