Ashby Tourist Information Centre is back in the town after a five year absence

Ashby's Tourist Information Centre has been re-opened in North Street.
The original facility - based at the town's library - was a popular destination for visitors and local residents alike.
It closed during lockdown in 2020, but has now been relaunched in the same spot - with backing from Ashby's Business Improvement District (BID).
The centre has been refurbished, with information available on local attractions in the town and beyond.

It will be staffed by Karen Ward, five days a week, and the TiC will also be selling Ashby-related merchandise such as t-shirts, postcards, umbrellas and books.
The opening hours will be Monday-Tuesday, and Thursday-Saturday; Monday: 10am-1pm; Tuesday 2-5pm; Thursday 2-5pm; Friday 10am-1pm; Saturday 10am-2pm.
There will be an official launch later this year, but the centre is now open for business.
Karen told Ashby Nub News: "We've had people coming in and asking where the castle is and how best to get there.

"But we can also tell them there are plenty of nice cafes they might want to stop off at.
"That's what we can provide for visitors to the town and we want to encourage that sort of footfall.
"It's surprising how many people stumble across the town and want to know more about it."
Stuart Benson, from Ashby BID, says that the centre is designed to encourage tourism to the town and the surrounding area.
He said: "It's the first time since lockdown that we've had this facility here in Ashby.

"The area around the library has been totally reconstructed and the old fittings ripped out completely.
"It's had a lick of paint with upvc doors and windows along with new flooring. It's bright and airy and we're ready to open to the public.
"We lost the service, but are happy to bring it back to the town for locals and visitors alike. Anyone coming into the town can find out more about where to go and what to do."
