Ashby Sport Fun Day returns to the Bath Grounds for a fourth year on Sunday - with a series of new attractions for the free event.

Started as a way of getting Ashby's sports clubs together, the Fun Day is designed to get people participating in activities.

The idea is that visitors to the event can come and 'have a go' at one of a number of sports.

If one interests them in particular, then representatives are on hand to get you involved.

This year, there are additions to the day in the shape of a climbing wall, life-sized human table football, bikeability, cycling and swimming.

The event is billed as a chance for all sports to get together and showcase what they have to offer to the Ashby community.

Organiser, Kenny Horn, told Ashby Nub News that the event has grown since it was first staged in 2021.

He said: "The new attractions are going to add even more to the event in its fourth year."

Kenny is a town and district councillor and says sport is one of his priorities.

He added: "There will be about 30 clubs taking part and it's all absolutely free to enter, participate and have a go.

"There's everything from archery to climbing - a whole range of things to have a go at.

"What we've seen in past events are clubs coming back to us and saying they've signed up new members on the day - which is what we all want. If we get just one person getting involved, then we've done our job.

"It's been quite a success since we came up with the idea in 2020.

"We don't know how many people have been inspired to join a club since it started.

"That's what we set out to do - encourage participation in sport and recreation.

"But we also have to thank Ashby de la Zouch Town Council and Kangaroo UK."
