Ashby Sport pioneer and local community campaigner Kenny Horn is running for selection in the local election scheduled for May 4.

Kenny has been chosen to campaign as a Conservative Party candidate for the Castle Ward seat for both Town and District.

He has been an Ashby resident for nearly 45 years and grew up and raised his two boys in Castle Ward.

Kenny says he has a very strong connection with many of the people that live there and adds: "Local elections are about Market Street not Downing Street and are typically fought on local, community issues."

He is keen to hear from Castle Ward residents about the issues they feel are important and most affect the Castle community and Ashby de la Zouch as a whole.

To start this conversation, he is launching a series of engagements: -

· A short survey to harness views, opinions, and recommendations from ward residents Please visit click HERE & follow the SURVEY link.

The Castle Ward area of Ashby de la Zouch

· A facebook group for Castle Ward residents to share information, concerns, and ideas. Join the Facebook group @castlewardcommunity.

· A Q&A at a suitable venue for Castle Ward residents to express and share views in an open environment. Details of all forthcoming events will be published on the website and Facebook page @castlewardashby.

Kenny says he is excited about the campaign and added: "Talking to friends, family and people in the town, I'm struck by how few people know which ward they are part of and who their representative is.

"Representatives need to be far more visible and representative!

"Ashby is changing and people feel they have no control over change.

"This is not the case. While we cannot reverse change, we have the ability to shape it.

"All local elections are important, but on May 4, the community has the opportunity to elect people who they think can shape and improve the town over the coming years.

"This is a conversation. I'd like to hear directly from people in the ward about issues that concern them. So, if you are a resident of Castle Ward, I'd love to hear from you"
