Ashby School Headteacher Responds To Lockdown Closure

Ashby School's headteacher has told parents that students will be fully supported when details of summer examinations are made clear.

The school - with sites on both Nottingham Road and Leicester Road - will stay closed until at least February along with others across the country.

This follows Prime Minister Boris Johnson's address to the nation on Monday night when he declared a new lockdown in a bid to stop the current rise in coronavirus infection rates."

And Ashby School's Headteacher Geoff Staniforth responded this morning (Tuesday).

In a letter to parents and carers, he wrote: "I'm sure you have watched the statement by the PM.

"The closure of schools looks to be until at least half term in February. Students were already not in this week and staff are prepared to deliver live lessons through Teams and set work through the virtual school. Please ensure your son or daughter is ready to connect at the appropriate time.

"We will review the plan for the future and I will contact you as soon as possible.

"We do not have all the details regarding the Summer examinations but please reassure your son or daughter that the school will do everything possible to support them and at this stage they should not worry about them."

What else do I need to know?
