An Ashby pub is to close for more than two weeks while it has a six-figure refurbishment.

The Beeches pub and restaurant in Burton Road closed its doors last Monday for just over a fortnight so that the £200,000 worth of work can be carried out.

An online post on the pub's social media page promises a 'new and improved' venue which also hosts music nights and private parties.

The post reads: "As of Monday the 28th we will be closed for our huge refurb, and reopening on the 15th of April.

"Yes I know, we're going to miss you too!

"But we can't wait for you to see your new and improved Beeches.

"Keep your eyes peeled for updates."

The pub's website says there will be a new-look restaurant, cosy interior decor, fresh food and premium drinks.

The Beeches, which has been doing business since the late 1980s, describes itself as: "Here at The Beeches, we are very proud of our passion for serving good, honest food with our famous carvery, pizzas and plenty of other dishes to choose from too.

"You can always be sure of a warm welcome as you treat yourself to fresh, home-cooked food, premium drinks and the friendly conversation of our staff that makes everyone feel like a local."
